Persephone Brewing Company
Persephone Brewing in Gibsons is a true farm-to-table (and farm-to-barrel) success story nestled in the Sunshine Coast countryside. On its 11-acre organic farm, Persephone grows hops, barley, apples, vegetables, and keeps laying hens, while also hosting greenhouses and a bustling apiary. This ensures that virtually every ingredient in its beers is grown right on site! As BC’s first farm-based certified B Corporation, Persephone champions regenerative agriculture and sustainable waste systems: they compost spent grain and reuse brewery water for crop irrigation, enriching the soil and minimizing environmental impact.
The tasting room, housed in a charming red barn, offers direct access to the farm experience. You can sip their award-winning Pollinator Pilsner brewed with on-site hops, organic barley, and local honey, while pizza from their wood-fired oven is served at picnic tables overlooking the fields. Beyond brewing, Persephone nurtures community through CSA “Beer Farm Food Boxes,” farm tours, workshops, and live music nights. They truly weave together food, agriculture, and craft beer in one inspiring, farm-centric destination.

Supercharger Pizza
Supercharger Pizza in Powell River is a nostalgic, 80s-inspired pizzeria. This cozy spot serves foldable New York-style slices with a Neapolitan edge, featuring inventive 14″ pies like the garlic-cream based “Chuck E Cheese” with smoked Italian and blue cheeses, fried rosemary, and honey, alongside bold specials such as the “Road to Hana” with smoked Italian cheese, braised pork shoulder, chilli caramelized pineapple, and pickled pepperoncini . Beyond pizza, the menu includes crisp wings, fresh farm salads, cheesy garlic bread, and rotating weekly specials, all rooted in high-quality ingredients.

Bruinwood Estate Distillery
Tucked among an orchard and apiary in Roberts Creek, Bruinwood Estate Distillery is a must-visit for lovers of local flavour. For the past seven years, co-owner Danise Lofstrom has been a cheerful fixture at the Sechelt Farmers’ Market, known for her infectious humour and deep knowledge of the craft spirits she and her partner, Jeff Barringer, create. Together, they operate Bruinwood on a beautiful five-acre property where they grow and forage many of the ingredients that go directly into their spirits.
As a craft distillery, Bruinwood is required to source its base ingredients from BC farmers, and they take that one step further by infusing their spirits with locally foraged flavours like blackberries, spruce tips, quince, rhubarb, and even licorice fern. These infusions are often gathered from their own land or nearby farms and wild spaces. Their Botanical Garden Gin, for example, is a sensory tour of the Sunshine Coast, made with herbs and elderflower from the Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden. Their K’Neko Honey Spirit, made with honey from their own bees, earned national recognition for “Excellence in Terroir”, a true testament to their farm-to-bottle philosophy.
With a cozy tasting cabin, free tastings, and warm hospitality, a visit to Bruinwood feels more like being welcomed into a friend’s home than a traditional distillery experience. Their small-batch vodkas and liqueurs featuring creative flavours like espresso, mandarin, haskap, and ube, have earned them fans across the province and beyond. Whether you discover Bruinwood at the farmers’ market or make the trip to their orchard-side tasting room, you’ll find a business that truly captures the spirit of the Sunshine Coast.
