The Sunshine Coast is farmers’ market country, with four weekend farmers’ markets stretching from Sechelt to Powell River, each one anchoring its own stretch of coastline and its own lineup of local vendors. Reachable by ferry from Horseshoe Bay or Comox, the region has built its identity around slow weekends, ocean views, and small producers who know their customers by name. Whether you’re spending the whole day working your way from Sechelt to Powell River or just popping into whichever farmers’ market is running closest to you, the Sunshine Coast Passport Tour is built to help you make the most of it, pairing each farmers’ market with nearby cafes, shops, and local landmarks worth the extra stop.

Open year round, Saturdays from 10:30am to 12:30pm and Sundays from 12:30 to 2:30pm, the Powell River Farmers’ Market has run at the Paradise Valley Exhibition Grounds on McLeod Road since 1987, making it the longest running farmers’ market in the qathet Regional District. The permanent outdoor marketplace gives space to more than 75 farmers and food processors, alongside a food barn, a bandshell for live music, and a children’s sandbox. Combining the community’s farming history with modern technologies and organic principles, the produce at the farmers’ market is fresh and tasty, diverse, and wonderfully colourful. It’s a true community gathering spot, with visitors settling in for a cold drink, a hot meal, live music, or a ride on the Paradise Valley Railroad’s miniature train.
Held Saturdays from 10am to 1pm, June through October, the Central Farmers’ Market sets up at Willingdon Beach on the site of the former Civic Arena, run by the nonprofit Skookum Food Provisioners’ Cooperative. It’s a newer farmers’ market, built to bring locally grown produce and products to a downtown location that’s easy to reach on foot, by bike, by car, or by bus. Expect local produce, organic vegetables, local meat, prepared food, hot beverages, baked goods, flowers, and arts and crafts from the region’s farming community and food producers, with beach access right there for a picnic once the shopping’s done.
Open Saturdays from 11am to 3pm, the Davis Bay Farmers’ Market sets up next to the historic Davis Bay Wilson Creek Community Hall, just two blocks from Davis Bay beach. It’s a small, food focused farmers’ market that welcomes local artisans and craft makers too, and it strives to be beyond organic, sticking to eco friendly, no spray growing practices that encourage biodiversity. The farmers’ market brings fresh, local, and diverse produce straight from the growers’ gardens to the neighbourhood’s table, alongside baked goods and artisan gifts. If the weather turns, the farmers’ market moves indoors into the community hall, so check the farmers’ market’s Facebook page for updates before you head out.
With more than 60 vendors on hand every Saturday from 9am to 2pm, April through October, the Sechelt Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market proudly stands as the largest outdoor farmers’ market on the Sunshine Coast, rain or shine. It’s held on Cowrie Street near the Municipal Hall and it has grown from a handful of local farmers and artists more than 25 years ago into an integral part of Sechelt’s summer social calendar. Shop garden fresh produce, seafood, craft spirits, baked goods, fresh cut flowers, and artisan crafts like pottery, jewellery, and Indigenous art from vendors across the Sechelt Peninsula. Plus, there’s plenty of parking on the street or at the library, municipal hall, aquatic centre, and mall nearby.
Gourmet Girl Cafe and Catering
A short drive from the Davis Bay Farmers’ Market, Gourmet Girl Cafe and Catering is a comfort food cafe tucked into Davis Bay, with big bay windows and a heated patio looking out over the water. The kitchen leans into breakfast and brunch classics like the Sunrise Wrap and Peach Rhubarb Praline French Toast alongside sandwiches, salads, and gluten free fish and chips, and the walls double as a gallery for local Sechelt artists.

Supercharger Pizza
Close to both the Powell River and Central Farmers’ Markets, Supercharger Pizza on Marine Avenue has been slinging handmade 14 inch pizzas, wings, and farm fresh salads since 2022 in a fun, retro 80s style pizzeria. The menu leans creative, with signature pies like the Road to Hana and the Canadian pairing smoked Italian cheeses and pork shoulder with unexpected touches like chili caramelized pineapple and maple bacon jam, all built on a crisp, well textured dough.
PKLS Burgers
Right on Cowrie Street near the Sechelt Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market, PKLS Burgers has been making the dream burger since 2017 with hand pressed, 100% grass fed beef patties and unlimited toppings, plus chicken, vegetarian, and vegan options, fresh cut fries, and homemade milkshakes. It’s a small takeout counter with a handful of outdoor seats, about two blocks from the beach, so grab your order and find a spot in the sun.

A well stocked home for quality art supplies on the shores of the Salish Sea, qathet art + wares is an independent shop founded in 2007 by Karen Skadsheim and Evelyn Russell, now settled into Marine Avenue’s bowling district after outgrowing its original Alberni Street space. Shop Canadian favourites like Beam Paints, Stoneground, and Tri-Art alongside industry leaders Golden and Gamblin, plus large format canvases, specialty papers, and a great selection of kids’ art supplies and activities.

qathet Museum and Archives
Just down the street, the qathet Museum and Archives brings the region’s story to life through exhibits, historic objects, and more than a century of archival photographs and records, with a strong focus on Tla’amin Nation history. Wander through displays of historic basketry and artifacts belonging to the Tla’amin Nation, learn the traditional Tla’amin names and meanings behind local place names, and explore the region’s Indigenous history alongside its maritime, papermaking, homesteading, and logging past. Formerly known as the Powell River Historical Museum and Archives Association, it’s been in its current building across from Willingdon Beach since 1974.
