The first market on the Vancouver’s North Shore Tasting Passport Tour is the Ambleside Farmers’ Market. This beloved market is located in the heart of Ambleside Park in West Vancouver, close to the Ambleside Village shopping area and Ambleside Beach.
Every Sunday morning (9 am-2 pm) from May to October, around 50 local vendors set up their stalls here to offer some of the finest organic produce, baked goods, and other artisan treats and gifts. While you’re there, be sure to explore the area. Ambleside Beach is the perfect spot for a beach day, with a concession stand and beach restaurant. The surrounding park is also full of pretty walking trails to explore, or you can enjoy a walk along the seawall.




The second farmers’ market featured on the Vancouver’s North Shore TastingPassport Tour is the Market at the Quay Farmers’ Market. This market is located at the bustling transportation and shopping hub, the Lonsdale Quay, and is open from May through October on Wednesdays from 3-7 pm.
Set against the picturesque waterfront, vendors at this market offer a delightful array of fresh locally sourced produce, artisanal goods like jams, honey and baked goods, handmade crafts, and other unique treats. With stunning views of the Vancouver skyline and a lively atmosphere, it’s a perfect destination for both locals and visitors to enjoy a taste of the region’s best offerings. Make your way to the West Lynn area for this next farmers’ market. Nestled in a peaceful residential area, the Loutet Farm Community Market offers fresh vegetables, baked goods, and local crafts. Managed by the Edible Garden Project and part of the North Shore Neighbourhood House, this market provides farm-fresh produce, as well as workshops in a serene setting.
There are several hiking trails nearby, making it the perfect spot to stock up on delicious fresh snacks for your next outdoor adventure.




Lonsdale Quay Market
When you’re on the North Shore, definitely take advantage of all the great dining options. If you’re coming from Downtown Vancouver, just hop on the seabus and in 15 minutes you’ll end up at the Lonsdale Quay, where you’ll find an array of cuisines at the food court. From Canadian to European, to Asian cuisine, there’s something for everyone.
Just a hop skip and a jump from the Quay is the renowned Shipyards District. This relatively new cultural hub is home to a ton of fantastic restaurants and bars just steps from the water. In the Summer this area is bustling with live music, markets and other exciting events.

The Spirit Gallery in Horseshoe Bay carries a vast collection of artwork from renowned and emerging Indigenous artists from the West Coast. Contemporary and traditional artworks are available for purchase, including jewelry, prints, clothing, and gifts.
MONOVA: Museum of North Vancouver

Shipyards District
The Shipyards District is a historic industrial neighbourhood on North Vancouver’s waterfront that has been converted into a vibrant destination for dining, nightlife, shopping and more. There are plenty of dining options for all tastes in this urban hub, as well as bars, and boutique shopping options. From May to September, the Shipyards District transforms into a bustling night market with local vendors selling clothes, gifts, jewelry and more. The Shipyards Night Market is also full of delicious food trucks and a patio pop-up beverage garden, with live music and entertainment all summer long.
Lighthouse Park
Located in West Vancouver, Lighthouse Park is a North Shore landmark. Named after the historic lighthouse, a National Historic Site since the 19th century, this park is full of scenic walking and hiking trails that range from leisurely to challenging. The trails meander through this 75-hectare old-growth park, down to the rocky bluffs on the water that overlooks the Burrard Inlet. Lighthouse Park is a great destination for hiking, walking, and birdwatching.
Capilano Suspension Bridge
The Capilano Suspension Bridge is one of the most iconic tourist attractions on the North Shore. The nearly 500-foot suspension bridge crosses the roaring Capilano River below, opening onto the dozens of trails in the surrounding Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. There are other exciting adventures to be had here too, like the Treetops Adventure, a network of platforms and seven smaller suspension bridges giving you a view of the forest from up in the treetops. Between April and September, you can also check out The Birds of Raptors Ridge, a display of eagles, owls and other raptors from wildlife conservation experts.
Capilano River Hatchery
The Capilano River Hatchery is just a short drive from the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. Located in Capilano River Regional Park, this fish hatchery and interpretive centre is a great place to learn about the local ecosystems. Take the self-guided tour and follow along the journey of salmon development, and time your visit to view real salmon in their different stages of development. Maplewood Farm
This beloved attraction is perfect for the whole family. Maplewood Farm is an educational heritage farm that is home to over 200 farm animals. Explore the rural grounds, meet the friendly farm animals, and engage in farm programs. Maplewood Farm also offers pre-booked pony rides for children aged 3-12, birthday party packages and field trips!
Takaya Tours
Takaya Tours, located near Deep Cove offers guided walking and canoe tours that focus on educating on the culture, traditions and history of the Tsleil-Waututh First Nation in North Vancouver. Book a 35-foot traditional-style canoe tour and paddle along the Indian Arm, or go solo and rent kayaks, canoes and SUPs.
