Held Mondays and Thursdays from 8 am – 1 pm, April through October, the Vernon Farmers’ Market is a short drive or easy ride from local favourite camping spots like Ellison Provincial Park, Silver Star RV Park, or Swan Lake RV Resort. With more than 100 vendors, the market is a lively, welcoming spot to shop for seasonal produce, artisan bread, preserves, meats, and handcrafted goods.
“We get a lot of campers coming through,” says Frances Callaghan, Market Manager. “They love that they can buy local and seasonal ingredients and then head back to cook something amazing over the fire or in the RV.”
The market has ample parking and shaded spots to enjoy your morning coffee and breakfast snacks. Many visitors come early and shop at a relaxed pace, with lots of time to chat with the growers and makers. There’s something deeply grounding about connecting with the people behind your food, especially when you’re taking a break from fast-paced city life.
“Our kids picked out cherry tomatoes and honey sticks, and we made dinner with the most delicious corn and chicken from the market,” says camper Robyn D’Souza, visiting from Calgary. “It made our trip feel extra special — and way tastier.”
Back at the campsite, you can turn your market finds into memorable meals — fresh salad with wildflower honey dressing, grilled lamb and local veggies, or just some juicy Okanagan fruit under the stars.
