Delta Tour

Delta is three communities in one tour. North Delta, Ladner, and Tsawwassen each bring a farmers’ market to the weekend, with neighbourhood stops waiting just steps away.

Saturdays alternate between two markets. The North Delta Farmers Market sets up at the North Delta Recreation Centre Plaza (11415 84th Ave) from 10am to 2pm. The Southlands Tsawwassen Farmers Market runs every other Saturday at Market Square at Southlands Grange (6313 Market Avenue) from 10am to 3pm. Sundays belong to the Ladner Village Market on 48th Avenue in the heart of historic Ladner Village, 10am to 4pm, one of the largest open air markets in western Canada.

Once you’ve checked in, the rest of Delta opens up. Walk the trial gardens on a West Coast Seeds farm tour, pull up a chair on the patio at Barnside Brewing, wander the boardwalks into Burns Bog at the Delta Nature Reserve, scoop barrel churned flavours at Cookie’s Ice Cream, and cap the day with proper Thai street food at Soi Ram.

One check in at any farmers’ market unlocks every stop on the tour. Pick a Saturday, pick a Sunday, or string the whole weekend together.

Just a short drive south of Vancouver, the Ladner Village Market has been steadily growing year over year since its inception more than 25 years ago. These days, this first-class village market inspires a festive energy amongst the three blocks it inhabits in downtown Ladner Village.

Surrounded by heritage buildings and the old City Hall, the recently revitalized pedestrian-only tree-lined streets come alive with the sounds of buskers and commerce – as farm fresh produce, meats, and seafoods join artisans and local businesses to welcome residents and tourists to this very popular destination farmers’ market.

PLEASE NOTE: This market is operating bi-weekly. Please check their website or social media for updates.

    Open Sundays bi-weekly 10am-4pm

The Delta Nature Reserve opens a window into Burns Bog, a vast protected peat bog and Ramsar Wetland of International Importance. Wander the boardwalks past songbirds, woodpeckers, and eagles. For thousands of years the Coast Salish peoples whose unceded territory this is, including the Tsawwassen and Musqueam, gathered blueberries, cranberries, and salal here and harvested medicinal plants from the bog. A quiet, grounding stop with deep roots.
