If you’re exploring the Burnaby Passport Tour in the summer, you have to stop by The Brentwood Artisan Farmers’ Market. The Brentwood Artisan Farmers’ Market is a vibrant community gathering place, located at the corner of Halifax Way & Alpha Ave in the Brentwood neighbourhood of Burnaby. Local farmers, producers and artisans meet here every Sunday morning from June through September.
This open-air summer market is the perfect way to spend a Sunday morning. Vendors offer a range of fresh seasonal produce, artisanal ingredients and baked goods, crafts, artwork and more. Stock up on local summer produce, and while you peruse the selection of goods you can also enjoy live music from local talent.
Your next stop on the Burnaby Tasting Passport Tour brings you to the Burnaby City Hall Farmers’ Market. This market has been a community staple for more than a decade. It runs every Saturday from May through October.
Here you can find an eclectic mix of vendors offering everything from artisanal baked goods to wild foraged mushrooms. You can also pick up some fresh fruits and vegetables, and arts & crafts from local artisans. If you’re looking for something to sip or snack on while you check out the market or the surrounding area, you can grab something from one of the food trucks in attendance. On Sunday, check out the Nikkei Garden Farmers Market. Also held in the summer and early fall, this market runs from June through October and is located in the garden at the Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre. With over 30 booths in the garden and inside the museum lobby, there is plenty to see (and taste).
Vendor goods include fresh local and Asian vegetable and fruit varieties, preserves, baked goods, plants, artworks, crafts and more. There are also several rotating food trucks offering ready-to-eat Japanese foods and coffee which you can enjoy while you explore the garden. Visitors can also check out Japanese performances, museum exhibitions and the museum shop!
Hart House Restaurant
Hart House Restaurant, located in a charming Tudor-style mansion on Deer Lake offers an elegant dining experience. Spanning 576 hectares, this area offers beautiful scenic viewpoints, and hiking trails through the forest. There are also plenty of picnic areas to enjoy.
Burnaby Village Museum & Carousel
