Sooke Night Market

Sooke / T’Sou-ke

T’Sou-ke - In the SENĆOŦEN language, the word T’Sou-ke is the name of the Stickleback fish that lives in nearby estuaries. Exposure to Europeans through the Hudson’s Bay Company saw the name changed first to Soke and then Sooke.

The Sooke Night Market began in 2014 and gets better every year!  Every Thursday from the beginning of June to the End of August 5-8, at the Sooke Region Museum grounds.
Supporting local food growers, producers, and creative makers – this is the place to be!  The Sooke Region Museum presents the Sooke Night Market to highlight the rich heritage of food producers, artisans and musicians in the area. It is a place for residents and visitors to learn about and enjoy local talent and fresh, local, in-season foods.  Connect with friends, family and neighbours.  Eat, enjoy performances by local musicians, and sing karaoke on the first Thursday of each month.
Back by popular demand, historic Moss Cottage and Triangle Island Lighthouse will be open during the Market, along with other outdoor exhibits like the Forestry Path.  While you’re here, come inside and visit the Museum exhibits and gift shop. We’re excited to welcome back returning favourites and some new local farmers. There will be savoury and sweet food options, as well as gluten free treats. People come to the Sooke Night Market week after week to enjoy the atmosphere, for the community gathering experience, the opportunity to talk directly to farmers and the reassurance they are eating fresh, locally sourced food.  If the food isn’t enough, live music and local makers inspired by this place are also a big part of the market atmosphere.
Why choose local? You are directly supporting farmers and other local businesses. Buy your food directly from the farmer to support local growers. Buy your clothes, beauty products, candles, soap, jewellery, and cards to support local makers. It all strengthens our local economy and builds connections in our community
The Sooke Region Museum is thankful to be part of the T’Sou-ke, Scia’new, and Pacheedaht peoples territories, who have inhabited this land since time immemorial.”
