Port McNeill Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market
Port McNeill / Kwakiutl
Kwakiutl - The name Kwakiutl (pronounced kwak-ee-YEW-tul) has two meanings: either “smoke of the world” or “beach at the north side of the river.” In the past the name referred to all the related tribes or groups, those who spoke the Kwakiutl language (known in modern times as Kwakwaka’wakw) and the individual band.
Meet and greet the North Island’s finest makers, bakers, and growers.
Steadily growing since its inception in 2012, the Port McNeill Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market offers a beautiful sample of the North Island’s finest makers, bakers, and growers from May through September.
Connecting the community with local food producers and permaculture experts, more than a dozen vendors set up in the green grass outside the Visitors Centre every other Saturday for a chat with their neighbours and a view of the Port McNeill waterfront.
We respectfully acknowledge that our market operates on the Traditional and Unceded land of the Kwakiutl, Namgis, and Mamalilikula First Nations.
This market participates in the BC Farmers' Market Nutrition Coupon Program.
