Prince George does Saturdays right, with two farmers’ markets running just a few blocks apart in the downtown core and a lineup of local stops to fill out the rest of your day. If you want to explore on two wheels, grab a bike rental from the Visitor Information Centre and roll your way between stops. From a craft brewery and distillery, to a Neapolitan pizzeria known for its birchwood oven, and a gallery showcasing the work of Lheidli T’enneh artists, there’s something for everyone in downtown Prince George.

Open Saturdays from 8:30am to 2pm, year round, the Prince George Farmers’ Market is a weekly event locals and weekend visitors don’t want to miss. Bright and spacious, indoors and outdoors, dozens of vendors bring their harvest to town every Saturday morning. Local musicians play and kids etch chalk masterpieces on the sidewalk while shoppers browse fresh produce, meat, eggs, cheese, freshly baked goods, bannock, preserves, and pickles. It’s a true cornerstone of the community, with entire mornings often spent sampling kombucha, ice cream, coffee, wine, beer, and spirits among friends.
Every Saturday from 8:30am to 2pm, the Wilson Square Community Farmers’ Market sets up at the corner of 3rd and George Street. Running from the start of May through mid October, this volunteer run farmers’ market fills the lot with local food producers as visitors start their weekends with a round of breakfast sandwiches and hot coffee. Traditional farm fresh meat and produce sits alongside wild foraged seasonal fiddleheads and morels, rounded out by a selection of local arts and baked treats.
Bike, Disc Golf, and Pickleball Rentals at the Visitor Information Centre
Once you’ve finished exploring the farmers’ markets, make your way to the Visitor Information Centre just a few blocks away. Get tips and information about exploring Prince George, browse local souvenirs, and rent bikes, disc golf gear, or pickleball equipment to keep your adventure going. Bike rentals run $5 an hour, $10 for a half day, and $20 for a full day, with disc golf and pickleball equipment at $5 for a half day and $10 for a full day. Fishing rods and tackle boxes are free to borrow, sponsored by the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC, and the TrailRider, an all terrain wheelchair, is also free to use, sponsored by BC Parks. Rentals are first come, first served.
Trench Brewing & Distilling
What began as a hobby for a group of friends brewing small batches at home has grown into one of Prince George’s favourite craft breweries. Their Nechako West Coast IPA took home gold at the Canada Beer Cup in 2024, and every beer here is named to honour landmarks across the Rocky Mountain Trench. Alongside their flagship beers and micro distilled seltzers, their kitchen turns out smoked meat dishes built to pair with a pint. The tasting room has an industrial feel with a patio out front, making it a great spot to settle in for an afternoon.

Betulla Burning
Downtown Prince George’s slice of Old World Italy, Betulla Burning has been a local favourite since 2016. The birchwood oven at the heart of the restaurant was forged and shipped in from Naples, reaching temperatures hot enough to cook a hand stretched Neapolitan pizza in about 90 seconds. Grab a seat by the fire and watch the pizzaiolo work, or settle in upstairs on the rooftop patio for a cocktail while local, seasonal ingredients come together into pizzas, pastas, and shareable plates.
Two Rivers Gallery
Art enthusiasts won’t want to miss Two Rivers Gallery, an award winning purpose built art museum that has served as a creative hub for Prince George and the Central Interior since 2000. The gallery sits on the traditional territory of the Lheidli T’enneh and offers a complimentary membership to anyone who self identifies as Indigenous. It also hosted Too Beh Ts’ughuna: Water is Life, the first professional exhibit curated entirely by Lheidli T’enneh and Dakelh artists, celebrating the community’s enduring connection to the Fraser and Nechako Rivers. Beyond that, explore contemporary Canadian art across rotating exhibitions, or take part in one of the gallery’s programs offered for all ages and skill levels.
