Old Firehall Collective 50-Mile Market
Nakusp / Nkwsp
Nkwsp - The original Sinixt spelling of Nakusp, it's original meaning remains undecided, although it could mean “Something in the lake that comes together".
A creative incubator for locals, an inviting haven for visitors.
Along the placid shores of the West Kootenays’ Upper Arrow Lake, lays the rural village of Nakusp. Every week, the old Nakusp Firehall inspires, nourishes and supports the community by hosting Nakusp’s 50 Mile Year Round Market.
This market focuses on local – very local. In order to support the truly remote food producers and artisans in the area, all vendors are within a 50 mile radius of Nakusp. On offer, everything everything from fresh produce and apple cider, to handcrafted birdhouses and original works of art – and on market days, hot meals from the repurposed community kitchen.
We respectfully acknowledge that the land we gather on is the Unceded Traditional Territory of the Sinixt Nation, Ktunaxa Nation, Secwepemc Nation, and Okanagan peoples.
