Taylor started her baking journey in 2019 and is completely self-taught, with a passion for cakes and cupcakes. Taylor is the owner, marketer and creative artist behind her business, and has baked from a young age, baking cookies with her Mom. Vanilla Bean Bakeshop has always been a dream of Taylor’s but others’ opinions deterred her along the way and she started working full-time in an office. When her friend asked her to create a special cake for her, Taylor started dedicating more time to her business idea and Vanilla Bean Bakeshop was born.
Located in and primarily servicing Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows and Port Coquitlam, Vanilla Bean Bakeshop specializes in Swiss meringue buttercream creations, and Taylor likes to incorporate fresh and in-season fruit where possible into her ingredients, with as little sugar as possible, allowing the natural flavours to shine through. In 2022, the business expanded to a team of three, allowing Taylor to expand into BC Farmers’ Markets full-time. Taylor is a vendor at Haney and Pitt Meadows Farmers’ Market and has been known to sell out at the markets. She also specializes in Wedding Cake packages and cake tasting boxes which offer fun, tasty and seasonal flavours. Although she admits she works now more than ever, she loves being self-employed and working at a job that she truly feels passionate about. She credits the BC Farmers’ Markets for being a great sounding board that connects her with her customers and enables her to get feedback and understand what the best sellers are.
